Mission: To initiate, evaluate and implement improvements to product quality and performance resulting in industry-high consumer satisfaction and less than 1% return rate.
Key areas of responsibility:
Responsible for all product quality and performance improvement initiatives.
Develop and maintain monitoring systems that identifies product quality and performance related issues.
Test and evaluate damaged or defective product to identify root cause or source of product quality and performance related issues.
Develop, implement and maintain a quality assurance system, including QA sampling/inspection procedures; developing maintaining testing equipment; QA data evaluation; QA system auditing; documentation and reporting.
Create and maintain assembly procedures for all pioneer made products. Procedures to identify specific materials, tools, test gauges, jigs, tolerances, torques, hazards and other procedures critical to the assembly process.
Conduct QA training.
Interface with customers and suppliers on quality related issues. May involve frequent travel (1 week per month).
Interface with all internal departments and outside sources on product quality/performance improvement initiatives.
Initiate and implement product specification changes.
Work with product development team on quality and manufacturing process related aspects.
Source manufacturing partners capable of supplying products and materials that satisfies our cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
Maintain and preserve inventory of Pioneer owned molds, tools, dies and testing equipment.
Create and maintain project time schedules and budgets for all quality and manufacturing process related aspects.
Maintain proficient knowledge in the present and evolving technology used in manufacturing of Pioneer products. This includes a working knowledge of optics, cameras (film and digital), drafting, CAD, plastic injection molding, die-cutting, machining, extruding and other fabricating methods using in Pioneer's products.
Prepare and distribute weekly progress reports.
Develop and maintain real-life product performance testing. Includes performing, analyzing and reporting on above-water and underwater product testing.
Qualifications: (The ideal candidate must demonstrate the following:)
Minimum 3 years work experience in mechanical engineering, quality assurance systems.
Minimum of 4-year engineering degree. Masters degree desirable.
Demonstrate creative solution analytical approach to solving problems.
Travel required. Suppliers throughout US and Asia, trade shows, etc.
Experience in digital cameras and electronics desired but not required.
Working knowledge of Solidworks 2000/2004 and AutoCAD 14 drafting tools.
